As part of her general upgrading of our family environment, Mom removed the shelves from the downstairs bathroom and put in a cabinet. This makes the contents accessible to the children but not to Polynomial, the latter being the primary reason we kept the shelves for so long. It means that, for instance, I will not have to fetch toilet paper from the shelves for children while they are using the facilities, which in my view completely justifies the effort and expense.
Alice is the most enthused about the cabinet and immediately populated it with various toys and other objects of interest to Alice. I suppose it’s in the family tradition to treat a bathroom as a personal retreat from the hectic pace of family life.
