Strategic misplacement

Last week we tried to get Alice ready for an outing and couldn’t find her shoes. We searched the entire house thoroughly and failed to locate them. I thought they might be outside because the kids had been playing outside with a few of the neighbor kids. I did a couple of passes but failed to locate any shoes.

The next day was a school day so Mom sent Alice in wearing her Barbi boots. Alice thought that was fine but the boots were a bit much. The next day we tried Alice’s wedding shoes. Alice also wore the headband from that day and remembered on her own that they were wedding clothes. She checked to make sure that I remembered Erica’s wedding as well.

Unfortunately, Alice managed to break the strap holder off the shoe so that pair became unwearable. Her original shoes were still missing so Mom took Alice off for emergency shoe shopping. As they left, I predicted the previous pair would turn up within the week, Mom predicted 24 hours. Turns out Mom was a better guesser as just under 48 hours after buying new shoes, Corwin (Corwin!) found the previous pair out on the basketball hoop in the dead end. For once, I hope this was not a learning experience for Alice.
